The White Horse pub in Whepstead Village, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, is bucking the current trend of 50 pubs a week closing when new owners Gary and Di Kingshott take up the reins on 29th October and open the doors to the public.
Over 30 white horses and their riders from the West Suffolk Pony Club and surrounding area will attend the opening at midday helping to make the day particularly memorable.
Gary and Di Kingshott have built up an enviable reputation over the last 25 years at The Beehive in Horringer, The Kingshotts bought The White Horse in June of this year and immediately closed it for an extensive refurbishment.
Built in the 17th Century, with later additions, The White Horse is a large charming pub with spacious dining rooms, an open fire, large copper topped bar, private room, garden, plenty of parking and wonderful rural public footpaths. With a nostalgic nod Di has created a Tuck Shop selling sweeties, chocolate and ice-cream - not only essential for the locals with a late night sweet tooth – but visiting children with no room for dessert but plenty of room for an ice-lolly will be equally delighted.
